Time: The Currency of Life

Time: The Currency of Life

“My favorite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.” These were the words of Steve Jobs, co-founder and former CEO of Apple Inc., one man who exemplified the idea that time is the currency of life.

Steve Jobs was born in 1955 in San Francisco, California. As a young man, he was interested in technology and spent a lot of his time tinkering with computers and electronics. In 1976, he co-founded Apple with his friend Steve Wozniak. From the beginning, Jobs was known for his drive and passion for innovation. He was always pushing the boundaries of what was possible with technology, and he inspired those around him to do the same. Throughout his career, Jobs revolutionized the computer, music, and phone industries with time. He was instrumental in the development of products such as the Macintosh computer, the iPod, and the iPhone. These products not only changed the way people use technology, but they also had a huge impact on popular culture.

Despite his many successes, Jobs was not without his challenges. He was famously demanding of his employees and had a volatile temper. He was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, which he battled for several years before passing away in 2011 at the age of 56.
Through it all, however, Jobs remained focused on his work and on pushing the limits of what was possible. He understood that time was very precious and that it was important to make the most of every day. His legacy as a pioneer in technology and a business leader is a testament to the value he placed on time and the way he used it to achieve his goals.

Time is the only currency that you have to invest, build your life, live purpose, and produce results of significant worth. Without time, we will be unable to live life and make the most of it. Time and purpose work together, and for us to carry on with a significant life on the earth, we ought to understand the currency of life which is “Time”, so we don’t put too much value on money alone. Time is not only the currency of life but also the highest form of wealth as long as you can convert your seconds, minutes, and hours into products of value that can solve problems for people and in your world.

Time is one of the greatest currencies that is often overlooked. It is a resource and an asset that cannot be stopped or stored. It is independent of race, and status and has no regard for man. Its quality depends on how well it is utilized, and if not properly managed, many opportunities can be lost. What you do with time determines what you will become in life. Whatever you invest your time in, that is what you become. Your time is an investment; it is the most important asset and investment of life. When you invest your time wrongly, you will yield no result. That’s why in the world today the most successful people can pay any amount to purchase additional time and in turn use that time to create more value of worth for themselves.

Value of an Hour

In some countries today, people are being paid according to the number of hours they work. What’s the value of an hour in your time? What are your daily priorities? The number of hours you put into something determines the value you get out of it. There are so many distractions on earth that steal our time, and in other cases, some people don’t have a plan for their lives; they live each day as it comes, with no valuable area in which their time is being channeled. It is important to compare what you do every day and think about your goals. Don’t be a “jack of all trades, master of none.” Your life worth is determined by what you do per hour.

Time can effectively be invested in yourself, in the lives of other people, and also in creating products that can serve as solutions to problems. Time investment in yourself can be converted to becoming anything in life, when time is placed in productive activities only then can you become a person of worth and value, and time invested in other people in the form of adding value to them is one of the greatest significance in life.

Creating wealth with time
Time is a currency that is often underestimated, but it is perhaps one of the most significant assets that we have. It is a non-renewable resource, which implies that once it is gone, it is gone forever. One way that we can think about the currency of time is by considering how we spend and create wealth with it. Very much as we would do with money, we need to make decisions about how we designate our time.
Every man has time; nature has made that available to every man on the earth. In life, we already have a starting capital, and that is “time,” “the currency of life.” That currency is more important than money. Money itself is a currency, but the currency of time is much more important than the money currency because, without time, we will not have the opportunity to put effort into things that can yield money in return. That is why to date it is said that “time is money”. This is because money is generated out of time. Money is a product of time. If you have the most important currency—time—then you have the opportunity and the ability to convert every minute and every second of your life into substantial products of value, innovations, goods, and services. The ability to convert your time into products of value is what creates your wealth and worth in life. One way of doing that is by thinking of a solution to a problem or by investing your time in creating products that can solve problems. Like Steve Jobs, develop a skill, be innovative, and convert your time; do not sell out your time. Convert that time into investing in yourself; Convert that time into adding value to yourself; convert that time into adding value to others. Convert that time into adding value to your products and services. That is how wealth is created over time.

When we talk about wealth, most times the first thing that comes to the mind of some people is money. Money is not the only form of wealth; time is wealth; products of value is wealth; a good relationship is wealth; impact is wealth; and health is also wealth. When time is effectively used, wealth is created.

PS: We don’t have eternity to make a difference on earth, and without the proper time investment, life would be worthless and of no value. Everything in this life is quantified by time. Our lives are quantified by time, and we are all rated and quantified with time. It is very vital to use time effectively, every minute and second counts. The more value you place on your time, the more value you get out of it.
“Time is life,” and it is passing away every second. The hourglass is a typical example of how time flies; the more the sand moves inexorably down, the more life and time are slipping away. Time is irretrievable. Don’t get too busy without being productive. If you exchange your time for only merrymaking and pleasure, you have wasted life. But if you invest your time into the creation of value, into adding value to yourself and others, if you will exchange your time for products and services, into innovations, and into your purpose in life then you have succeeded in trading your life’s currency for the true worth of value.
